Today is my first weigh-in for the Holiday Slimdown Challenge - and to be honest, I'm not all that excited about posting my weight on the internet for all the world my three readers to see.

But I'm also all about being "transparent" and making changes and the whole point of this blog is motivation so... without further ado... our chart...

I'm running the Tinker Bell Half Marathon on January 20 so my "I'm scared to admit this out loud" goal is to lose 10 pounds by then.  They say for every pound you lose, that's 1 second faster you run per mile. I would really appreciate dropping my mile time by 10 seconds, so that's pretty good motivation.

But my goal for January 2nd is to lose 5 pounds.

It's really hard for me to lose weight so 5 pounds might not sound like much but every body is different I supposed.  (Remember that 3.5 pounds I was excited about losing when I was sick? Well literally the next day I was back to exactly my previous 151.5)  My weight actually stays really consistent and doesn't tend to fluctuate from day to day.  But the 140 mark is where I'm healthiest.  Now again, every body is different. To some that might seem huge and to others that might sound small but for my frame and lifestyle, 140 is good.  I have a lot of muscle in my legs (being a cycling instructor will do that to ya) and I'm always going to have thunder thighs... but I'm coming around to being OK with that.  These thighs have gotten me through some tough runs and I'm proud of my strength.  I just need to "trim the fat" a bit.

Another tip I didn't mention yesterday that will help me be disciplined with my eating during the holidays is crafting in the evening... instead of snacking.

It seems that with cooler weather, and longer nights, my husband and I spend more time in front of the TV in the evening.  The bad part of that though is how tempted I am to sit and snack.  So last night, instead of snacking, I started crafting! Maybe it's just me - but when I get really engrossed in a project - I'm way less likely to think about food.

The craft was cutting out fabric triangles for a bunting banner for my brother-in law and sister in law's vow renewal this June.  She wants tons of bunting so we're starting early. Here's her photo inspiration from Pinterest... lots and lots and lots of bunting...

Speaking of their vow renewal - it is going to be super cute and I'm very excited.  She asked if I could design a Save the Date for them. And even though they didn't end up going with this design, I liked it so much, I wanted to share it with all of you.
Completely unrelated to anything really, so let's get back to the subject at hand.

Find other things to do during the Holidays that you enjoy instead of eating. Here are a few Christmas crafts I'm planning over the next few weeks: (all from Pinterest)

I'm sorry, this is from Pinterest and doesn't link to a real site

What healthy and fun things do you like to do to keep from over-indulging in the evening?
