Gabby Rose… has the runs

I knew it was coming, but I didn’t expect to use that joke so soon…

(Disclaimer – this is about to get real)

So Monday night after dinner I started to feel a little queasy. I had a couple of Egg Nog cream puffs that my husband snuck in the shopping cart, so I just assumed it was the cream and sugar that made me feel bad, and reminded myself that’s why I should stay away from it.

Well around 1 a.m. I woke up feeling worse and for the next couple hours was pretty sick… like we’re talking both ends here.

I hoped that it would be out of my system, but here we are on Wednesday afternoon and I’m still a little off. It’s the weirdest feeling to be winded just walking from the couch to the bathroom.  I had to take a break from opening a can of chicken broth.

I am trying to find the blessings in the midst of this though.  So far here’s what I’ve come up with:

1. I lost about 3.5 pounds
2. It came on in the middle of the night… instead of the middle of a meeting
3. I have an awesome husband to get me water and blankets and hold my hair back, clean up my vomit and stuff.
4. Because said husband was so helpful he used it as an opportunity for me watch 5 movies I’ve never seen (Say Anything, Lost in Translation, Tom & Huck, Huck Finn and The Fugitive – yeah he has a pretty wide range in taste.)
5. Did I mention that I lost 3.5 pounds?

I hope to go back to work tomorrow but I’m still feeling really weak so we’ll see… I’m not the type of person who enjoys just laying around on the couch all day. Yesterday I was so sick and out of it that the day went fast, but now that I’m feeling a little better I’m already super bored and ready to do something (well, that is until I stand and start to get light headed).

In other news, we had a good run on Monday evening before I got sick. We ran to the local track (about 1.5 miles from home) and did 4x400s at a fast pace (well fast for me). My first 400 was a 1:52 and then the last three were all 1:48. Consistency baby! I would walk about half a lap in between each 400 so all together I did about 5 miles.

Unfortunately, I had to get subs for my classes today (cycle and boot camp) and I missed yesterday’s run so I probably shouldn’t be so excited about those 3.5 pounds yet…

Sorry about no pictures in the post, but who wants to see a photo of someone who hasn’t showered or brushed her hair in 2 days?
