A day late but done, none the less, I finished my 12 mile run!
Saturday afternoon slipped by into oblivion before I realized what was happening, so we decided to do my 12 mile run yesterday instead.
It started off a little rocky because we'd just eaten lunch. I felt super heavy and was just uncomfortable. The weather was in that weird "is it cold or not?" place so I wore shorts and one of Donny's long sleeve soccer jerseys. But my legs were cold and my arms were hot and things were riding up into unmentionable places and I was just feeling off.
Our route is basically all uphill for the first 4 miles, but once it flattened out things started to feel better. My iPod died around that point too, but putting it away and not dealing with the cords and stuff made me feel better actually.
I took a shot block at the 45 min, 1:15 and 1:40ish... and then did a Gu at the 2 hour mark. Eating makes suuuuch a difference in how I feel on long runs.
I was surprised and really pleased with how good I felt. I mean, of course my legs were tired at the end, but I wasn't dying. And my two problem areas: my shins and hips felt perfectly fine so that was very exciting.
For the next two weeks I'll just do some 4 mile easy runs. For cross training I'll go a little harder this week, but then take it very easy next week.
I'm getting excited!
Running the Tink Half last year was so fun! My parents went with me because Donny couldn't make it, but I'm looking forward to having him there this year. He actually hasn't been to any of my real races. (He was there for the 5k Electric Run, but that barely counts).
As I've mentioned before, I'm dressing up as Tangled! Here's my inspiration board
I'm torn because I know she'll be along the race route for photos, and I would love to have a photo with her while I'm dressed up as her... but I also don't want to stop...
Maybe she'll be around after the race?
I recently found this workout on Pinterest, so I want to do it some time this week to help get in the mood.
Who is your favorite Disney Princess? Would you ever dress up for a race?
I think Tangled has wiggled her way into first in my heart. This is the first time I'm dressing up for a race. I think it's kind of crazy how elaborate people get, so I'm trying to find a happy medium that's still super comfortable but also cute. In my last race, I started next to a guy in a full on banana suit. I have no idea how he did it!
