Taking a Personal Day

My work anniversary date was Saturday, May 10 which makes 4 years! Which also means I graduated from college 4 years ago as of last Thursday! Crazy how the time flies!
Graduating! Stephanie and I - May 8, 2010
I had one personal day left from this year, so Donny and I took Thursday as a fun day date! We slept in, ate pancakes and then headed to Disneyland for the rest of the day.

As annual passholders, we're at Disneyland a lot, but it's always a special treat when we can arrive in the morning and spend the better part of the day there.

We were like, totally engrossed in watching this dog get in the Ferris Wheel
sleepy sheepy....
He woke up and smiled for the camera though!
We both really enjoy walking around and people watching, and don't worry about getting on too many rides.  We were also in the hunt for Frozen merchandise and had heard that it sells out quickly in the day. I think we checked nearly every store between the two parks! We did find some Olaf stuffed animals - but what we really want is a Sven the Reindeer! Oh well, maybe next time.

I also requested that since it was a "special day" that we have a "special lunch" at Cafe Orleans. We've walked by dozens of times, and I've always wondered about the mysterious Monte Cristo sandwich.
Let me tell you - that is one heck of a sandwich.  If you've spent any time here on my blog, you know that I'm a big eater (hence this whole endeavor of finding balance in all of that) and I couldn't even finish half of it!
Basically, it's a ham and cheese sandwich that's been fried and sprinkled with powdered sugar.  Sounds strange, I know, but the mix of savory and sweet is absolute perfection. Donny kept calling it my doughnut sandwich...

I'd also read that the espresso machine at the restaurant is the original from when the park first opened.  Supposedly, it was one of Walt's favorite places to sit and sip an espresso. So naturally, I had to get one myself.
The Ducks had a playoff game that night, so we asked Donald if he could pose for a picture for us.
And they won that night - so it must have been good luck...

We had a really fun day and it was a great chance to break away from our normal, crazy busy, routine and spend some uninterrupted time together. See you again on Monday Disney!
